A talk by Chairman Josie Webb on Lillie Langtry’s amazing life was the focus of the pre-Christmas meeting for the Brigg Amateur Social Historians - BASH.

Born Emilie Charlotte Le Breton in Jersey in 1853, she married Edward Langtry in 1874 and later moved to London.

Noted for her good looks, she sat for artists and started to mix with high society.

Noticed by Edward, Prince of Wales, she eventually became his mistress for three years.

She also had a very successful stage career and later success at breeding horses.

The next meeting for BASH will be on
January 7 at 8pm; details on 01652 657053.
