1959 saw Market Rasen’s Christmas Mime filmed by the BBC for the first time.
Presented as an open-air spectacle, the presentation took up a third of the market place.
And co-operating shopkeepers switched off their lights so all eyes could be concentrated on the Christmas story, which unfolded soundlessly and ended with a tableau (pictured above).
And the mime event continues in the town every four years - last performed in 2012.
