POSTAL workers experienced an upward trend in the number of letters posted at Market Rasen throughout 1967, but the culmination came on December 19, it was reported, when 21,065 Christmas postings passed through the Rasen franking machine in just one day.

Postmaster Mr C H Wilbourne said the normal daily average was around 2,500 letters and praised the casual workers who joined the regular staff over the festive season to help get the mail out.
