EDITOR – I was interested to read your article about the Gordon Arms sale and rename.

Having stayed at the Gordon Arms, I am really pleased to see that it is being renovated, as it was a tip. I would not have considered staying there again. If you look on the internet at trip advisor, you will see a comment about it being dirty and run down, which is no exaggeration.

I am generally against changing names for the sake of it, but in this case, the new owner has little choice but to change it, as many possible guests would look for comments on the internet, and if he has spent a great deal of money
in refurbishing it, why suffer losing business because of the previous owner?

I say good luck to the man, although his timing in opening a hotel appears to be a bit on the unlucky side, with pubs closing around the country.
