EDITOR - I would like to thank those people who were able to visit our exhibition last month on the plans for a straw-fired renewable energy plant at the site of the former sugar works outside Brigg.
It was helpful for us to hear, first-hand, the views of those who might be affected by our plans. We will be considering the comments raised very carefully, and will ensure that we cover all of the issues raised in subsequent information on the proje
ct.
The exhibition was advertised in this newspaper, in posters put up in the community and also in 5,700 newsletters that were sent directly to homes in Brigg and Scawby Brook. Nevertheless, it appears that some people were unaware of the exhibition and as a result, missed it.
This is a great shame and, for those who are interested, I am pleased to say that all of the exhibition material can be viewed or downloaded from the project's website, www.briggrep.co.uk. Visitors to the website can also ask questions of the project team, and continue to tell us their views.
Anybody who did miss the exhibition should rest assured that it was only the first step in long process of consultation and evaluation. The next important step will be the submission of the planning application later this month, which will be supported by a full Environmental Statement.
This detailed and wide-ranging document will be issued to statutory consultees for their expert analyses and will also be made available for examination by the public. Copies will be lodged with local libraries and the entire document will be available on our website, along with the details required for members of the community to register their views with the planning authority.
Eco2 fully supports and encourages consultation. There will be ample opportunity for everybody to examine every detail of the project in the coming months.
We look forward to receiving further comments on the project and, wherever possible, working with all stakeholders to make this a project that the local community can feel proud of.
