07/05/08 - Town parking space 'favouritism'
EDITOR - The problems encountered by Mr Reaney in the Market Square are largely as a result of his total inability to talk to people in a reasonable and polite manner.
Instead of giving him more authority the council, and the people of Market Rasen, would be better served if he was made aware of exactly what is expected of him, and exactly what he is entitled to do.
This does not include stopping traffic in Market Place and assisting vehicles to back into the road. This is not only illegal it is also extremely dangerous. If an accident were to happen and the council was sued, no doubt the over-burdened tax payer would have to foot the bill.
The allegations of favouritism are well founded.
He treats the Market Square as his own personal fiefdom with typical small town mentality. One only has to see the same cars in the same places each market day to realise that some form of preferential treatment is endemic.
A set number of parking spaces is a good idea as long as it is on a first come first served basis.
I suppose we'll get it right eventually.
