VISITORS from across the north of England travelled to Wrawby for the Village History day held in St Mary's Church.
Wrawby History Society, Lincolnshire Family History Society and Lincolnshire Archives all provided material for visitors to search in depth their family history.

Janine Sansom travelled from Derby by train. “My family originated from here and I saw the Wrawby History Day advertised on a web site. I have ancestors on my mother’s side with the names of Stamp and Knipe and I’ve found entries in the records to trace.”

Lesley Downing had not travelled so far, just from Barnetby. She was tracing the names of Britcliffe and Mumby in the records.

A few useful leaflets, records and catalogues relating to Wrawby were brought from the six miles of storage shelving in the Lincoln archives.

Church warden and co-ordinator Nigel Good was delighted at the public’s response to a thoroughly rewarding day.

“The organisations have supported us well and so many people from as far away as Manchester have come to check out their family names.”
