Monday, 6am: THE Lindsey Rural Players are getting to make merry in May with a fundraising ball
The black tie function, set to be an evening of delightful food, fine wine, wonderful music and dancing, is open to everyone.

The fun on Saturday, May 31, in the Brocklesby Suite at Market Rasen Racecourse will begin with drinks on arrival at 7.30pm, followed by a buffet dinner at 8.30pm.

Music is courtesy of Sounds Familiar, who will be playing popular music of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.

The May Ball will also feature an Auction of Promises, hosted by auctioneer Craig Bewick.

A host of amazing lots have been donated, including a week's hire of the theatre worth £550, a trip to a fire station and a ride in a fire engine for up to ten people and a pleasure flight over Lincolnshire departing from Wickenby Airfield.

Members of the Theatre have also made promises to donate their time and skills to winning bidders for singing lessons, computer tuition, gardening, car washing and a dinner with butler service.

The evening is being hosted by Lindsey Rural Players, whose home at the Broadbent Theatre in Wickenby will benefit from the function. The Market Rasen Mail is offering its support.

Ball co-organiser Elaine Dower said: "Following the runaway success of last year's May Ball we are working hard to make sure this year's is even bigger and better. Tickets are selling very fast and we are looking forward to a really wonderful evening."

Over the past year many improvements have been carried out at the theatre, including a stage extension and reboarding, new bases for all seats and the installation of a cess pool. Proceeds will allow the Broadbent to continue to improve and provide a first class theatre-going experience.

Tickets for the May Ball cost £30 or £250 for a table of ten. Go to www.broadbent.org or send a cheque payable to Lindsey Rural Players to Elaine Dower, 13 Tower Avenue, Lincoln, LN2 5QQ.
