Fridsay, 4pm: WIDE-ranging praise has been showered on Pegasus Childcare Centre at Osgodby by government inspectors who said 'The Centre plays a key role in the local community which ensures that the children are at its heart – and as a result every child's individual needs are met.'
The centre’s latest Ofsted assessment praises its ability to support children who have additional needs and confirms that all children make good progress in their learning and development.
The committee and managers are commended for their clea
r leadership and how they work together very effectively in the best interests of the children. Parents comment very positively about their child’s progress and the easy relationships they have with the staff. There are excellent links with the local primary school especially regarding children’s transition as well as links with other providers.
Provision for communication, language and literacy and knowledge and understanding of the world are particular strengths of the nursery. ‘A lot of emphasis is placed on children developing good listening and looking so that they develop their language skills well.’
The Centre is also a breakfast club and an after school club and the Inspector found that those children who attend the after school club are able to enjoy a well- balanced day because ‘the staff who look after them also work with them in school so they know what they need to complement their school experiences.’
Centre Manager Mandy Ashley said she was ‘absolutely delighted’ with the report which recognised the Centre for the quality and standard of its provision, its inclusive practice and its overall effectiveness.
Pegasus operates from purpose built premises next to the village primary school, open during term time from 8.45am to 3pm with an hours breakfast club in advance and the after school club from 3.15pm to 6pm.
In holiday time provision is offered from 7.45am to 6pm for children aged three and over, with a variety of fun activities.
