Work Starts on New Co-op Store

WORK has started on the new Lincolnshire Co-operative foodstore on the site of the derelict Talbot Inn pub in Caistor.

Lincolnshire Co-operative is investing 1.3m in the scheme, which is due to be competed by November.

The Society has a policy of using local contractors where possible and Woodhall Spa-based Taylor Pearson Construction Ltd has been appointed for the project. It is expected the new store will create ten new part time positions.

When complete, the outlet will feature much improved access, especially for people with mobility problems and those with young children. There will also be a wider range of products available.

The range in the store will include groceries, fruit and vegetables, locally-sourced meat from the Lincolnshire Quality scheme and a range of county products through the Local Choice range, including Cote Hill cheese from Osgodby.

The unit housing Lincolnshire Co-operative's existing foodstore on High Street will be let out once the new store is complete.

Store Development Manager Matthew Wilkinson said: "We've got a lot of loyal members and customers in Caistor. We believe this new build store will transform their shopping experience and also help us welcome new customers through the doors."
