Town Council Briefs

Town Council Briefs:

* The council is to ask the developers of the old Caistor Hospital site for 75,000 towards town projects. The developers - Cannon Kirk - have offered 50,000 to be paid in two instalments - after 50 houses have been occupied after 100. The money is to be paid as an alternative to developing the former hospital chapel as a community resource, which the council says is not required. Councillors will also ask for the money to paid upfront.

* Temporary site railings are to be placed around the war memorial until the new permanent railings are installed, in an attempt to stop people sitting on the memorial.

* The council is to donate 1,500 to the Caistor in Bloom project. The money will be used to buy planters and other items in time for the judging, which takes place in mid July.

* Grants are being sought to stabilise the old fire station in the Horse Market and then to develop the site. Grant funders will need to know what use is going to be made of the site and how it will be maintained in the longer term.

* West Lindsey is to be asked to fund a parish litter picker. Councillors have had numerous complaints about the state of the town centre and the poor cleaning of the town’s streets and pavements. West Lindsey is also to be asked to send the mechanical pavement sweeper over to Caistor.

* Plans to produce a new Town Council leaflet have been put on hold in the light of the resignations of the Mayor and the Town Clerk. It will be looked at again in September, when it is hoped a new clerk will be in position.
