French - English relations were up for discussion as Caistor Twinning Association held their AGM.

A successful year of activities was reported, which culminated with a visit in October by 55 people from Caistor’s twin town of Savigne, north east of Le Mans, when the group was welcomed by the young people of the town.

Retiring chairman Jan Lyas said: “We’ve had a very successful year and I wish to thank everyone who helped, particularly our small but perfectly formed committee and special thanks to our treasurer Mike Talbott for his sterling work.”

Several activities took place during 2012 including a stall at the Mayor’s Fayre and a wine and cheese evening in April, a bric-a-brac stall in the cold and wet at the Caistor Goes event in June , plus a very successful Safari Supper and a puppet workshop in September.

Several committee members stood down at the meeting, including Carol Mackenzie and Sue Caine.

“We feel we need new volunteers to stand on the committee to ensure the twinning continues and for new enthusiastic members to guide and enthuse the twinning,” added Jan Lyas.

“Caistor Twinning has the basis of a strong committee, but we are still looking for new people to join us.”

There will be a meeting in the near future for anyone who is interested in joining the committee and in the meantime more information is available from the secretary Peter Taylor on panmtaylor@aol.com or 01472 852083.
