Straight furrows unearth more funds for church
VINTAGE PLOUGHING – The second vintage ploughing match to be held at West Barkwith this season was organised by John Plowright of the Lincolnshire and Newark Vintage Ploughing Association and on this occasion was hosted by Hugh Bourn Farms on land off the A157.
Proceeds were again for St Mary’s Church, East Barkwith Church and Tower Restoration Fund and the Ploughman’s Travel Fund.
The event attracted 72 entries from a very wide area and at the end of the successful day prizes were presented to the winners of the respective classes by Ann Hobbins and Christopher Bourn.
Results were: Vintage Trailed Plough – T Waudby, Lincolnshire; Vintage Tractor with Mounted Plough – R Ingham, Warwickshire; Classic Class – S Burden Yorkshire; Intermediate Class – S Burden Yorkshire; Ferguson T 20 – E Manson, Nottinghamshire; Horticulture – A Marshall, Rutland; New Style – T Waudby, Lincolnshire.
Thanks go to all who helped and gave their support to raise £600 for the church and £100 for the Ploughman’s Travel Fund.
