The popular Brigg belly dance group The Shima Dancer’s will be providing an 'Evening of Glitz and Glamour' on Saturday July 4 at a 'Hollywood Party Night,' at the Broughton Village Hall, all in aid of seriously ill local children.

A Fun Evening of Belly Dancing and a Variety of Tributes to Great Hollywood Movies will keep the feet tapping from 7pm until the midnight hour.

The event is part of the Brigg area effort under When You Wish Upon A Star' to send terminally ill children to Lapland at Christmas.

Local Town and Parish Councils can now hire portable signage from North Lincolnshire which can be used for a community speed watch. The signs can be installed in areas where there is evidence of a need for speed reduction. Hire charge for the councils are around 140.

Brigg Town Council wants North Lincolnshire Highways to make Springs Way a primary salting route. The Council also wants salt bins provided in specified locations for next winter.

The final event in the Brigg Horticultural Society Spring programme took place at the Methodist Church Hall.

The subject was 'From Rhode Island Reds to Flower Beds' an illustrated talk by Bob Shorthouse of Scotter.

Mr Shorthouse was a member of the Brigg Society and told how he changed a part of his garden from chicken pens to flowers,and how he used the material from the hen houses in his new design, illustrating his talk with slides.

The society reconvenes in the autumn for the next series of illustrated talks.

Wold Singers are presenting their summer concert Songs 4U in the Angel Suite. Guest artist is Ken Carruthers. The concert is on Wednesday 1 July at 7.30pm, admission is 5 which includes refreshments. Tickets are available from Carol Mundy on 01652 654428 or Pat Dudman on 01724 280722.

Brigg Town Council’s Policy Committee have agreed a 50 grant to the Humberside Playing Fields Association. The council are still pursuing a meeting with North Lincolnshire Council over the viewing capacity of the market place CCTV cameras which the council claim is being obstructed by trees. Council have asked for a visit to the control room.
