Scunny Bunny serves up the breakfast treats

AN ELSHAM farmer was the inspiration behind Scunthorpe United FC throwing open its doors for a British Brunch celebration as part of the Home Grown Cereal Authority's National Farmhouse Breakfast Week 2010.

The public were invited to join Scunthorpe players to 'start the day the healthy way' in the Executive Lounge at Glandford Park, or for a healthy brunch in the restaurant serving a full Scunthorpe United breakfast including porridge, bacon, eggs, sausages and toast.

Local producers were on hand to sell their local produce including Uncle Henry's Farm Shop and Mount Pleasant Windmill Bakery from Kirton and Cote Hill cheeses from Osgodby.

Organiser and Elsham farmer, Janet Godfrey, said: "We wanted to join the rest of the country in demonstrating the benefits of starting the day with a healthy breakfast and to give the public the opportunity to purchase goods from the excellent range of local producers that we have in the Northern Lincolnshire region."
