BOXES of seasonal cheer will be making their way to Romania, Belarus and Kurdistan thanks to Rasen’s schoolchildren.

Pupils at De Aston have collected 70 boxes, filled with toys and stationery, for the charity Samaritan’s Purse to distribute to children in some of the poorest countries in Eastern Europe.

The collection was organised by Year 12 student Emily Hancock, with the help of teacher Paul Cutts and his tutor group.

“I helped with the collection last year and was pleased to take it on again this year,” said Emily.

“The whole school has been involved and I would like to thank everyone for their support.”

The De Aston collection was given a boost by Sally Jacklin and the children of Market Rasen Preschool who donated ten filled boxes.

Find out where your Rotary Shoeboxes will be going in next week’s Rasen Mail.
