Take art! Mad March market is a big success
Sunshine brought the shoppers out for the Mad March Market.
Hundreds of visitors flocked to the town to enjoy the bustling award-winning MR BIG market and also see the culmination of the month-long Plank Festival.
Among the many stalls at the market, there was the chance to learn circus skills, while at the Methodist Chapel unsold art work was going under the hammer with local auctioneer Mike Perkins.
“Fifteen pieces of art were successfully sold at the auction, achieving £155, in addition to the artists’ fee, to start the ball rolling for next year’s festival,” said Festival organiser Sarah Lamballe.
“It’s early days but I think we are starting to see an emerging market for art in Market Rasen.
“We have learned so much and been incredibly well supported by our artists, the community and local businesses that next year’s festival will be even better if we can achieve the funding.”
Meanwhile, original artwork, prints, cards and display easels from Plank 2013 are on sale at the Big Corner Shop to boost funds for next year.
