“WE’RE for the Community” – that was the message for Rotarians as the Market Rasen club welcomed the national president of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland.

John Minhinick spoke to members of the Rasen club at their weekly lunch, where they were joined by fellow Rotarians from Horncastle, Lincoln, Woodhall Spa and Alford and Mablethorpe.

In his address, Mr Minhinick stressed the need to make everyone more aware of the work Rotary clubs do in their communities – hence the launch of the new campaign.

And the Market Rasen group was able to show first hand a small part of the
assistance they give to groups in the area, with a visit to the town’s station.

The support given to the Station Adoption Group over the years by local Rotarians was in full evidence.

The latest addition by the group is two specially caste rotary hanging basket brackets at the entrance to the platforms.

“This is an incredibly beautiful station,” said Mr Minhinick, who was given a guided tour by Station Adoption Group chairman John Skelton.

“The station in the village I live in won the national award for best kept station across the whole rail network in the 1990s and Market Rasen certainly lines up to it.”
