A MARKET Rasen boy has given his stamp of approval to collecting for charity.

Five-year-old Ciaran Dalton from Chapman Street has been collecting used postage stamps to help raise money for the RNIB – Royal National Institute for the Blind.

And with Christmas just over and done with, his collection has been boosted by the many stamps from cards and packages sent at this seasonal time.

Ciaran’s nana, Sandra Tindall, has collected stamps in this way for more than 20 years and it was while at her house that he decided to do the same.

“He saw the stamps and wanted to play with them,” said Sandra.

“I told him he couldn’t as I was collecting them for the blind people and so he wanted to know more about it all.”

After Sandra explained to him what being blind meant, Ciaran decided he would like to help too.

“I made some notes to give to my friends at school asking them to help me collect stamps,” said Ciaran.

Mum Rachelle helped too by posting Ciaran’s collecting on Facebook and soon envelopes of stamps were coming from as far away as Norfolk.

“Thank you to everyone for helping,” added Ciaran.

“I would like lots more stamps please to help even more people.”

To help Ciaran continue his good work, Market Rasen Primary School has agreed to act as a collection point for stamps – with a box in the reception area.

Stamps can also be taken in to Style Studio in the town’s Union Street.
