Reward those who make a difference

DO you know of someone who deserves to be recognised for the voluntary role they play in their local community?

Nominations are now open for this year’s Good Citizens’ Awards, run by Lincolnshire County Council.

And this is your chance to nominate those who give up their time and efforts for free to help others and their community.

“It’s your chance to honour those extraordinary people whose voluntary contributions make noticeable differences to people throughout Lincolnshire,” said Coun Robert Palmer, vice-chairman of Lincolnshire County Council.

“Of course, they don’t do it for reward, but the hugely positive impact they have on people’s lives should be recognised. So, I urge everyone to nominate their Good Citizen for 2012.”

It could be someone who looks after an elderly, disabled or disadvantaged person for no reward; a dedicated charity fundraiser; or perhaps someone who gives up their free time to help young people in their community.

All that matters is that they’ve voluntarily made a real difference to the lives of others.

The awards come in three categories: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year (aged 16 or below), and Community Group of the Year.

Who do you think should be rewarded?

Make your nomination online at www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/goodcitizensawards

Alternatively, send your contact details and those of the person you’re nominating, along with a description of the voluntary work they’ve done to: Good Citizens Awards, Lincolnshire County Council, FREEPOST DC1082, Lincoln, LN1 1BR.

The closing date for nominations is Friday, April 20.
