Positive news on way for De Aston field plan?

A NEW recreational facility looks set to be created for residents in Market Rasen.

As previously reported in the Rasen Mail, West Lindsey District Council are looking to purchase De Aston Field, off Willingham Road, on behalf of the town.

The land is currently owned by Lincolnshire County Council, but at last week’s Market Rasen Town Council meeting Mayor Steve Bunney reported that he had heard good news was on the way.

There is £90,000 section 106 money available, money given to the town by developers who have built new homes in the Market Rasen, and Coun Bunney reported that he understood, but could not confirm, that De Aston Field had been valued and was worth less than £90,000.

He also told town councillors that WLDC had agreed to sign the land over to the town council as soon as the purchase had been made.

Any of the £90,000 left over after the purchase of the land will be used to provide
recreational facilities on De Aston Field, possibly new
allotments.
