Many hands will aid ‘spring clean’

VOLUNTEERS are wanted for Brigg’s Spring Clean day this Saturday, May 26.

There will be two clean-up sessions, with the main aim to target the river, the river side, and the town centre.

Other locations which have been identified as ‘in need of targeted response’ will also be considered, depending on the manpower available.

Volunteers to assemble at the Angel Suite for a health and safety briefing at 10am for a clean-up session from 10.30am-12.30pm, or at 2pm for a session from 2.30pm-4.30pm.

Light refreshments will be provided back at the Angel Suite after each clean-up session.

The more manpower that is available the more that can be done and town councillors urge local people to spread the word and encourage others to come forward – details and forms to register are available at the clerk’s office.

The date for this year’s clean-up event is one week later than usual, due to the delayed national bank holiday to mark the Diamond Jubilee, and town councillors have urged the town looks its best for the royal celebration.

The Diamond Jubilee weekend in Brigg will begin with the LincSquad Adventure Challenge on Sunday, June 3.

A voluntary committee has also recently been formed to organise further events and entertainment for the community on Monday, June 4 and Tuesday, June 5, with the week being rounded off with Brigg Summer Fair, now organised annually by Brigg and District Lions, in the Market Place and town centre on Sunday, June 10.
