Jonathan’s seeking presidential NFU role
Jonathan Brant
A FARMER from our area is in the running to become vice-president of the largest agricultural organisation in the UK.
Crops and beef farmer Jonathan Brant, 52, has been nominated to become the National Farmers’ Union’s vice-president after doing a great job as the organisation’s council delegate for Lincolnshire.
Jonathan, who has lived in Normanby le Wold all his life, is a third-generation family farmer and believes his indusry is one of the most important in the country.
He said: “As vice-president I will bring an open, practical and hands-on approach. I am determined to see our union, through its members, where it belongs – at the forefront of promoting our strong farming future.
“I particularly enjoy meeting members, listening to their thoughts and ideas and representing them at national level. I am passionate about the industry, and not afraid to express my opinion to bring about a positive result.
“They want someone who’s got at bit of a fire in their belly and I think I’m the best person for the job.”
Jonathan – who is married to Zoe and has three children – has served as branch and country chairman and is a member of the regional livestock board.
He said: “During my time as county chairman I introduced new ideas and brought considerable energy to NFU activities and feel confident stepping up to a higher level.”
The NFU holds elections for the three officeholder positions – president, deputy president and vice-president – every two years.
Jonathan is up against six other vice-president candidates.
The next election takes place in February at the NFU’s annual conference and the results will be announced on Wednesday, February 22.
