Chris in pitch to aid alzheimer’s sufferers

A RETIRED man is marking his 60th birthday by living in a tent for five days to raise money for charity.
Chris Hall set up camp on Monday morning and will stay in his tent – on the corner of his field in Catskin Lane, Walesby – until 5pm on Friday, May 4.
Chris is raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society after hearing about Wickenby woman Michelle Boryszczuk who was diagnosed with the disease aged 39. Michelle, now 43, needs round-the-clock care and has lost the ability to speak.
He said: “My intention is to camp-out for five days and four nights without home comforts in whatever weather conditions might prevail in an attempt to raise at least £500.
“I will sleep under canvas, boil water on a fire and prepare and cook my own food. I promise not to leave the vicinity of the site or to sneak home for any ‘bathroom facilities’.”
Chris said the Alzheimer’s Society desperately needs extra funding for research and care and says the money he hopes to raise will sponsor a research assistant for five days.
He said: “The disease is still not fully understood and often misdiagnosed but researchers are convinced that a breakthrough is imminent.”
