Caistor win gold in East Midlands In Bloom

CAISTOR is celebrating after gaining a Gold award and the Category Winner’s title in the East Midlands in Bloom Awards 2012.

The results were announced today at Springfields Festival Park, Spalding.

Caistor, entered in the Large Village category, has also received a Judge’s Award for impressive levels of community engagement.

In a competition consisting of 55 community groups from across six counties, Caistor’s success is no mean feat.

Furthermore, this success has increased over the years: having gained a Silver Gilt award in 2010, followed by a Gold award in 2011, the town has gone one better this year as Category Winner.

In doing so, Caistor in Bloom has lived up to the hopes of Ernie Brown, president of the organisation, from the previous year when he spoke of aiming higher and maintaining standards: a target which was evidently achieved.

The bad weather this year makes Caistor’s win even more impressive for, as Jeff Bates, chairman of East Midlands in Bloom, said: “This year the grey skies and prolonged periods of heavy rain cause a number of problems to Bloom groups,

“Regardless of the weather, high standards were still maintained and there were lots of excellent examples showing communities working together to bring long lasting improvements to their area.”

Check back to this website later for reactions to the awards.
