All systems go for forces career
Passing his Phase 2 training in the Royal Signals is former Caistor Grammar Student Jake Ryley
A FORMER Caistor Grammar School student is byte-ing into a career in the army.
Jake Ryley has graduated from the Royal Signals Training facility at Blandford in Dorset, where he has completed his Phase 2 training in IT and computer skills to prepare him for his job as a communication systems engineer.
He has also recently completed his driver training and passed his test.
Jake was brought up in Caistor, and more recently Nettleton, and after gaining nine GCSEs in the summer of 2009 made the decision to join the army and train as a communication systems engineer in the Royal Signals, rather than going on to do A-Levels.
In January 2010 he travelled to Harrogate and joined the ranks at the Army Foundation College, where he was taught first, basic and then more advanced army skills and also attended higher education classes.
He will be returning to Blandford shortly for a further two weeks’ training, after which he will be promoted to the rank of lance corporal.
