Frank Walter Cordell
THE funeral service for Frank Walter Cordell, of South Street Caistor, was held at the parish church.
The Rev Canon Ian Robinson officiated at the service and arrangements were by J W Varlow and Son.
Frank was born at Dunkirk Farm, Wootton, the youngest of nine children.
Frank was educated at North Kelsey School until he was 14, when he joined his father on the farm.
During the Second World War Frank worked on another farm for a man named Knapton. He was also a member of the Home Guard, the Observer Corps and, later, a volunteer fireman at Caistor.
In 1940 Frank married Edith, and they enjoyed more than 72 years together and had four children, three daughters Joyce (known as Jodith), Mary and Margaret (known as Ann) and the youngest, a son Robert.
Their four children have produced 11 grandchildren, Alison, Mark, Neil, Nigel, Ian, Hayley, Tracey, Mathew, Gary, Sharon and Dawn.
Frank also had 12 great-grandchildren: Tyler, twins Emma and Sarah, Harry, Ross, Billy, Brandon, Ethan, Owen, Katie, Emily and Libby.
Frank was a great family man and loved to spend time playing games with them.
He was also a keen sportsman and his interests included bowling, golfing, darts, snooker, football, shooting, karting, motorbikes, tractors, cars and property repairs.
Apart from being a farmer, Frank had been a shopkeeper and a landlord.
He’d spent many happy holidays caravanning and his pancakes were famous within the family.
Frank assisted in watering, cutting and fertilising Caistor’s newly-laid bowling green many years ago and was very proud to be a life member of the club.
He will be greatly missed by family, friends and neighbours.
Frank died at Ladysmith Care Home.
