Top ten topics for All Our Stories virtual tour revealed

The voting has closed and Market Rasen’s virtual tour is one step closer to offering residents and visitors alike a taste of the town’s historic past.

The heritage tour is being created by Rase heritage Society in collaboration with Market Rasen Business Improvement Group.

The shortlist of topics was printed recently in your Market Rasen Mail and organisers were delighted with the response.

“We would like to thank everyone who took the time and interest to vote, both by paper form and online,” said Rase Heritage chairman
Hazel Barnard.

The ten topics to take forward were clear winners - now the work begins to get the in-depth research done.”

Members of Rase heritage will lead the way in getting the information needed for the tour and it will be the main topic for discussion at their meeting on Thursday, February 14.

The ten winning topics were: The Market Place, St Thomas’s Church, Railway Station, Magistrates Court and Police Station, Public Houses and Racecourse, The Tennyson connection, William Storr Murder, Dr John Conolly, Rival Corn Exchanges and Dr Barton.

Market Rasen was one of the first towns in the UK to receive an All Our Stories Grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. This money will create the virtual tour for use with ipads and smart phones, as well as in paper.
