Housing survey showed sub-standard living

At Tealby Church, members of the Tealby, Rasen and District Branch packed the church for the annual service, led by Branch Chaplain the Rev F M Massey.
Earlier that day they had also led the parade from Market Rasen Church to the town’s war memorial.
A HOUSING survey showed half the dwellings in Market Rasen’s Prospect Place to be sub-standard.
Out of the streets 32 houses, the Public Health Committee made recommendations for dealing with 16 of them.
It was reported the owner of numbers 5, 7, 9 and 11 wanted to clear the site and put up a pair of semi-detached houses.
Other properties were to be improved by the owners, while legal procedure was being looked in to for numbers 31 and 32.
Six houses known as Swiss Cottages and 12 houses in Serpentine Street were also under scrutiny by the medical officer of health and the committee.
THE question as to whether traffic congestion might be relieved by the adoption of a system of one-way streets in Market Rasen was under consideration by the local UDC accident prevention committee.
UNDETERRED by a recent statement that the town was “dirty and untidy,” Market Rasen was still going to be entered into the Best Kept Town competition and a council sub-committee was formed in connection with the contest.
TRANSITION of Binbrook RAF Station from its role under Bomber Command to become one of the top fighter stations in Britain was reached this week in 1962 with the arrival of ace fighter pilots from West Raynham in Norfolk, to run courses in day fighter combat tactics.
Binbrook had become the headquarters of the Central Fighter establishment.
