Lack of bus service criticised

A Brigg resident has criticised the lack of public transport provision to  nursing homes in the local area.

Jim Allcroft advised members of Brigg Town Council, at their meeting in the Angel Suite, local  establishments without public transport provision included Stonecroft Cheshire Home, Haverholme House and Castlethorpe House.

Mr Allcroft won the Joseph McGrath Community Service Award in Brigg for 2011-12 in recognition of his leadership in the Brigg area on the senior citizens’ forum.

Now Mr Allcroft has also raised the issue with Coun Rob Waltham, lead cabinet member for adult and children’s  social services on North Lincolnshire Council.

The criticism affects both nursing homes and residential homes for the elderly.

Mr Allcroft claims promises from North Lincolnshire Council about bus service provision when he served on the voluntary panel had not always been met.

Coun Waltham has responded by taking the matter up with public transport officers at the council.
