Helmand hero in the Spotlight at Middle Rasen
A man honoured with a Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service will be speaking of his experiences at Middle Rasen this Sunday, March 3.
Padre Andy Earle - Chaplain to the Irish Guards - will be the guest speaker at Spotlight in Middle Rasen Church at 4pm.
On standby for North Africa duty and recently returned from Afghanistan, Padre Earle is an energetic officer with a passion for sharing God’s peace and reconciliation in places of unrest.
Armed only with a symbolic shepherd’s crook and a camouflaged Bible, Andy works alongside traumatised and shaken soldiers who must, at times, take lives in order to protect others.
He has built bridges with Muslim clerics by sharing his honest faith in a God who longs for men and women of war to make peace.
Padre Earle was honoured for the “exceptional pastoral care” of his flock in Helmand.
Hear his astonishing and moving story and share tea and home-made cakes afterwards, when there will also be an opportunity to donate to Royal Irish Benevolent Fund.
Spotlight is an informal, Christian event with multi-media screen presentations and live worship band.
