Hard-line parking concerns

CONCERNS have been expressed that a hard-line approach to parking enforcement will penalise locals.

North Lincolnshire councillor Nigel Sherwood has told the town council that it is likely that management of street parking will be transfered away from the police in 2011 when offences are decriminalised.

Key to the success, he said, was whether enforcement was managed ‘in house’ or by outside contract.

Coun Sherwood hoped that North Lincolnshire would keep it in-house so that officials operating in each area would be familiar with the local logistics.

“If an outside company with no knowledge of Brigg is brought on board, I have grave concerns with regard to those residents who do not have any off street parking provision within the environs of their property,” he said.
