Company moves in and gives more jobs for Caistor

NEW jobs have been created in the town following the move of Louth based Grantham Industries, which owns GBM Demolition, which has invested £2 million in a new metal recycling centre.

GBM Metal Recycling opened last month at a 15-acre site on Brigg Road to create the largest site of its kind in the county.

The facility has been given a new lease of life by the company after being purchased from Hambleton Bros who closed the yard two years ago.

It will be used to collect, buy and process ferrous and non-ferrous metals on a national scale.

With the capability to hold over 120,000 vehicles and house thousands of tonnes of unwanted metal, the site can handle more quantities than any other site in the county.

Everything from washing machines and batteries to lead and copper are accepted from both public and business customers with competitive on-the-spot rates offered.

As the site is an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF), people can also bring their cars, vans and trucks to be disposed of by GBM Metal Recycling in line with Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) requirements and the Government's End of Life Vehicle regulations.

For companies which create large amounts of surplus and scrap metals, GBM Metal Recycling also has skips and storage containers available which can be delivered and collected as required.

Director Simon Grantham said: "For us the acquisition of this new facility is a natural progression, adding to our already comprehensive demolition, plant hire, recycling and waste management services."

GBM Metal Recycling is being headed up by Sales Director John Hall who has over 40 years' experience in the scrap metal industry.

He added: "GBM Metal Recycling is set to be Lincolnshire's premier scrap metal processing site. While a large proportion of the metals will be dealt with on site, we will also be exporting some scrap to India where it will be made into lower grade steels to be re-used in the construction industry."
