Brigg police response 'disappoints' Chief Constable
A FURTHER call for Brigg Police Station to be manned more frequently has come from a Brigg Town Councillor.
A letter from the Humberside Chief Constable Simon Walker has failed to stamp out criticism from councillors, after the local police attempted to draw a line under an incident which occurred in June when a 5am phone call from a member of the public failed to bring a police response to a man allegedly carrying an axe.
Coun Mike Campion said: “The person could have committed a serious crime. My concern is that ‘someone a long way away’ did not consider this serious. It worries me greatly.
“What it means is that while nobody mans Brigg Police Station we cannot get a quick call out.
“Had the person with the axe run amok it would have been a little bit late to respond. At 5am things would be quieter for the police than at 1am.”
PC Jane Proud understood the concerns but denied there was ever a quiet period for the police.
“I know the Chief Constable is disappointed over this, and quite rightly so,” she added.
