BAFTA style awards for CYS film makers

Pupils at the Yarborough school celebrated in red carpet style as they collected three major awards at the LAFTAs , Lincolnshire Education Service's equivalent of the BAFTAs.

The ceremony, a black tie event at Lincoln University, attracted more than 50 entries from around the county with CYS being short-listed for four categories - and winning three outright; Best Concept, Best Overall Film and Best Film Contribution.

The film project, funded through CfBT, was part of the school's Gifted and Talented Programme enabling 50 pupils from across all age ranges to work with professional film makers to learn the skills of production and editing.

The results were so good the film company entered the films for the LAFTAs on the school's behalf with fantastic results.

Director of Specialism, Karen Ayres said: "The results were truly amazing and very professional, highlighting the creativity, hard work and the skills of our most able pupils and it is very gratifying to see all our efforts have been worthwhile. We have won three fantastic trophies to display in school as well as a range of film-making software, some digital cameras and electronic notebook for student use."
