Fifth time in chair for Caistor's new mayor
CAISTOR'S new mayor has gone into the chair for the fifth time in his 23 years as a member of Caistor Town Council.
Steve Webster of Plough Hill, was elected mayor at the first meeting of the new council. Vice chairman is to be Caistor vicar Coun Ian Robinson.
Coun Webster joined the council in 1985, becoming mayor in 1987, 1993, 1999 and 2000.
After his election, he said: "I enjoy the monthly meetings, which were originally held in the West Lindsey District Council offices before moving to the Town Hall in the late 90s, and knowing what is happening in this vibrant, thriving town of Caistor.
"I see the council's role as questioning the district and county council. We have a good relationship with our local representatives from these councils and wish to see this continue. I look forward to serving the residents of the town during my time as mayor."
He said his priorities during his term were to continue the process to obtain 'Quality Council' status, to make sure the council 'represents the views of all the people in Caistor as well as we can over the THI Public Realm Scheme (Market Place renovations), although we can't get it perfect for everyone', and he said he hoped to get the CCTV scheme 'up and running'.
Coun Webster welcomed the new members of the council - Couns Mike Stockwood, Marcus Plume, Andre Wilkin and Shirley MacDonald.
