MEMBERS of Caistor WI heard a very interesting talk when Audrey Chatterton spoke about 'The Life and Times of Jane Austen'.
She told of Jane’s life with her brothers and sisters, and her vicar father. Her life consisted of sewing, embroidery and going to church. Music was one of her favourite pastimes, both playing and composing and she also loved dancing and going to balls.

As well as her books, she wrote numerous letters. Members heard extracts from her books and about the filming of ‘Pride and Prejudice’.

Winners in the Flower of the Month competition were Linda Mason, Noreen Newton and Wendy Handford. The competition for a candlestick was won by Catherine Shacklock, Jacqui Symonds and Ann Timson.

l Tomorrow, Thursday, July 3, in the Town Hall Arts Room at 7.30pm medical herbalist Dr Sally Moorcroft will discuss the history, modern use and preparation of herbal medicones. New members always welcome. Call Ann Timson 01472 859012 or Linda Mason 01472 852201

l On Saturday, July 19, from 10am to noon in the Town Hall, Caistor WI will hold a promotion day showcasing all that’s good about the group, with a craft exhibition, stalls and teas.
