MORE honours have been heaped on local football team Caistor Crusaders after the last season saw them grow to fielding more than 110 playing members in seven squads and covering age groups from six to 18.
Following the awards attained last year as an FA Charter Standard Club, Caistor Crusaders JFC has progressed to FA Charter Standard Development Club Status and has just been awarded two further prestigious FA Awards - the Lincolnshire FA Charter Standard Development Club of the Year and the East Midlands Region FA Charter Standard Development Club of the Year.
The club was presented with the award at the recent England Under-21 game at the KC Stadium in Hull by the FA's Director of Football Development, Sir Trevor Brooking.
Andy Hayes, Caistor Crusaders JFC Coach and Club Secretary said:"These particular awards yet again recognise and highlight the extremely successful and continually developing community partnership the club has with Caistor Grammar School and something the FA are looking at as a 'Model of Best Practice for School / Club Links'.
"It also rewards the dedication, commitment and enthusiasm of a team of volunteers and the playing members at all age groups. The club will now be the East Midlands Region representatives in the national finals."
On the field there was also tremendous success last season with teams at Under 16 level winning the Supplementary Plate League and, for the eighth year in succession, a team from the club (Under 7s) has won the Gradely Junior Football League Most Sporting Team Award.
Two players from last year's Under 17 Squad have also been awarded County Representative Honours in the English Schools Football Association Cup – Tom Hayes and Coel Fulton playing for Lincolnshire Schools Under 18s.
Caistor Crusaders JFC took the opportunity to acknowledge the assistance afforded by local sponsors, Graham Davis Commercials Ltd, Nat West Bank PLC, Cherry Valley, Sealord, Trumint and Spinning Wheel Antiques.
