YOUNG singers will support Lindsey Lodge Hospice at a series of special commemorative Tree of Lights services in the Brigg area and in towns and villages around North Lincolnshire.
Members of Jopsox, the junior section of the Scunthorpe Operatic Society, will be performing at five of six events being arranged by the hospice to celebrate the work of the centre and the life of loved ones who have passed on.
Hospice director
Alison Tindall said: “Our Tree of Lights services are open to anyone regardless of whether a loved one or friend was cared for by Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
The simple services, lasting about an hour, complement the annual Light up a Life service in Scunthorpe and augment the bereavement support given to loved ones and families.
On Tuesday, December 9, there will be a Tree of Lights service locally at
St Hybald’s Church, Scawby at 7pm, all very informal, with carols and readings.
Lights on the tree can be sponsored and the name of each person for whom a light shines can be entered in a Book of Lights.
The hospice provides specialist care for people with specific life-limiting illnesses in the North Lincolnshire area, nursing and therapy, respite care, symptom control, emotional support and end of life care. The Hospice also offers counselling for patients and families and bereavement support.
It costs nearly £3.50 every minute of every day of the year to provide these services and the charity depends on the support and generosity of local people.
