YOUNG people in the Brigg area are being encouraged to develop things they want to do thanks to £96,000 of funding via North Lincolnshire Council.
The Youth Opportunity Fund is a special fund for young people run by young people.

The cash can be used on project ideas ranging from sports teams and dance groups through to bands and skating activities.

Young people can apply for funding to help organise trips, organise events, buy equipment or even open a building.

Groups of young people aged 13 to 19 can apply for money. Young people with disabilities can also apply up to the age of 25 years.

Over the last two years almost £300,000 has been handed out for local projects. Successful bids included £736 for Brigg Cheer Squad.

The Youth Capital Fund is slightly different and can help young people change premises or buy equipment for a project.

It can help build a youth space within an existing community like a cyber café, skate board ramps or teen shelters or it can even help fund mini buses.

l To find out how the Youth Opportunities Fund can provide support, call the Youth Service on 01724 297214 or download an application form from www.northlincs.gov.uk.
