ALMOST 40 residents of Scawby Brook are calling on planning councillors to test out perceived dangers outside their homes if a straw burning power station gets approval.

In a joint letter to councillors on North Lincolnshire Council planning committee, MPs and other councillors, the householders detail their wide ranging objections to the proposed biomass power station at Scawby Brook and 'strongly request' a visit to a similar plant at Ely in Cambridgeshire 'to get a close view of such an operation'.

"Residents would also request that a 61ft straw lorry is driven on the proposed route to see the effect one of these trucks will have at peak traffic times, the dangers on the route and the effect on homes close to the road."

Initially the aim was to take the matter to committee on September 11 but a date has still not been set.
