BRIGG Amateur Social Historians committee's mid summer bash took them to Gainsborough Old Hall where they were escorted around by authoress Sue Allan who has been one of their popular speakers.
"Sue has mentioned the Old Hall in her books so it was lovely to be shown the rooms she has described in her fascinating stories.
"Henry VIII stayed at the Hall at the same time as a member of the Tyrwhitt family from Kettleby Manor, and she showed us the bed chamber he was said to have slept in," said member Graham Austin.

BASH has a particular interest in ghosts and members heard about the hall's 'Grey Lady who haunts one of the upper corridors.

A fascinating trip concluded with with tea and cakes in the Hall tea shop.
